LANZAROTE

STAY

BUENAVISTA LANZAROTE

Must stay. Tucked away in the middle of the island, away from any touristic spots -- having a car would make things easier. Only 5 suites avialable, and the host himself lives there too inside the most beautiful garden and vineyeard. We stayed in the biggest room, Suite Norte, that has the most breathtaking tube view, giant hallway, and an open-roof corner in the bedroom for stargazing while lying in bed.

It’s quiet, intimate and peaceful at night. The breakfast setting is HEAVENLY. Don’t mind the two big dogs because they wait for your food very quietly. It would be a dream to grow old here.

EXPLORE

TIMANFAYA NATIONAL PARK

Absolutely surreal. Great way to glimpse the island’s dramatic landscape. A bus ride is available to tour the park and Star War soundtruck plays throughout the tour, just as if you’ve landed on another planet. Top on my list. (P.S. Interesting gift shop too, we left with matching star necklaces that are made from volcanic stone.)

PLAYA EL GOLFO

Beautiful pebble beach with a few cute, super reasonably priced restaurants nearby. The beach gets almost empty after dark during off-peak seasons. We arrived after dinner, had the whole place to ourselves and were just in time for a crazy sunset. Very magical.

 SEE

CHARCO VERDE

A wild mix of black rocks, red sand and green lake that is probably rare to see anywhere else. Volcano rock chunks are scatter everywhere. A few good ones made into my permanent rock collection and are currently displaying on my shelf. Heads up, you can’t really get to the lake, it’s more of a lookout spot. But the surrounding area is perfect for a scenic hike.

MUSEO LAGOMAR

A design museum with scenic views and artistic interiors -- the most iconic spot on the island. Built into and along volcanic caves, there’s breathtaking gardens, a rockcave cafe, magical tunnels and effortlessly minimal living spaces... such a privilege to being able to walk around inside. This should be top on your list.

ANTIGUA ROFERA

Hidden in the middle of the island just off LZ 404 road, definetely need a car getting there. Once a site for extracting volcano rocks, now left with an untouched, natural scenary that is not at all commercialised. My boyfriend and I ended up here with some time to kill. We sat on top of the rocks and were just chatting untill it was too cold and dark. Great memory;)))))

THE CACTUS GARDEN

A famous tourist attraction to see all kinds of cactus. I had my first cactus sushi at the cafe inside! Not weird at all lol, tastes a bit like cucumbers. They also sell all kinds of cactus product from sauce to alcohol at the gift shop.

CUEVA DE LOS VERDES

A chance to walk inside lava caves where lava river once flowed - magnificent work of nature. It’s english guided and lasts about 40 minutes.  The music hall inside was a cool surprise.

DINE

EL DIABLO

Only restaurant (?) inside the Timanfaya National Park. Known for their chicken to be grilled over live volcanic heat; therefore it’s one of the most dangerous restaurants in the world. Very cool concept but the food doesn’t really live up to its hype. No need to check it out if it doesn’t happen to be you dinning hour.

NOSS

An open air art gallery that is so intimate we felt like we were transpassing...No gates no tickets, pull up any time to scratch on the note book, wonder through the garden and see random collectibles. Interesting experience.

EL CANGREJO ROJO

It’s honestly hard to find bad food in Lanzarote, feel free to walk in any. This one is located in Tias with a seafront view. Must order anywhere: Lapas, a special kind of shellfish that that tastes like the mixture of abalone and clams; papas, gilled local volcano potatoes; and always “catch of the day”. Never went wrong during our entire trip.
