HAMILTON ISLAND
HEART REEF HELICOPTER TOUR
Highly recommend taking the helicopter to see the great barrier reef as well as the heart reef from the sky above! You can either fly direct from Hamilton Island or take a cruise out to a floating base and depart from there - depends on your budget and comfort with tiny planes ...All activities on Hamilton Island are managed via their own app, *book in advance*.

SNORKELLING
I don’t know how to swim.. so I had to book with a guide, who’s a Brit from Manchester that has “never worn shoes again” after moving to Queensland. My family was taken to a small floating base in the open sea, geared up, then guided to drift and with the current back to the main base. Saw underwater cliffs, corals, shells... a breathtaking glimpse into the southern pacific ocean, and honestly so much fun even for non-swimmers.Deep diving is also an option if you're feeling more adventurous.

WHITEHEAVEN BEACH
A must visit. Literally the cleanest sand and water - we saw baby sharks in shallow, fish swimming around your feet. I fell asleep on the beach and it gave me the worst sunburn that lasted for a whole year but totally worth it.To get there from Hamilton Island, you’ll need to take a cruise and change into speedboat. Can be booked via the Island’s app in advance.

ONE TREE HILL
The whole island allows no cars, but most spots are easy to reach by walk or buggy ride. One tree hill is THE sunset spot on the island. There is a bar with a view but get there early if you want a good seat - alternatively just sit on the grassy slope. Cockatoos will come say hi.
