Our only destination for two nights in the Agafay desert. It’s a only an hour drive short drive from the city but a totally different world. The hotel itself is pure calm, offers a mix of free and charged activities, all deeply rooted in local culture. We petted sheep at the hotel farm, ate veggies straight from the garden, sat around the bonfire chatting with a world traveling yoga instructor, did some trail running, watched Dune 2 with broken wifi and wind howling outside of our tent, and shared our shower with a frog that somehow made its way in...A perfect escape after the sensory overload of Marrakech.

CULTURAL WALK (FREE)
The cultural walk activity was strongly recommended by my dearest friend, Giada, who stayed in the same hotel ahead of us. Three hours, only us and our Berber guide - the kindest, most grounded soul, who chatted along the way about everything—from how intelligent camels are to the history of his people, and how the commercialisation of Agafay is both helping and challenging the locals. Marched under extreme heat, through the rocky landscape, we were taken into what was once an ancient village, but now only ten homes remain.
A family of 12 welcomed us into their house —grandfather tending the garden that filled with over 20 types of herbs and vegetables that sustain the entire family. Mother and grandmother cooking, kids working in nearby tour camps. We were greeted with fresh fruit & veg from the garden, sat in their tent backyard, sipping fresh mint tea, eating homemade pastries, and feeling the weight of purest, simplest living.
On the way back, our guide cracked open a random rock picked up from the ground — and its full of natural crystal quartz inside! He gifted the rock to us swapping our water bottles because "I make sure no plastic is left in the desert."
A sweaty, magical and super spiritual morning. Nothing really happened yet everything did. If you are staying with Our Habitats, this can’t be missed !!!!!
